Am I paying this builder too much for the work he is doing?

Im redecorating my house, and am paying a skilled handyman to do the redecoration of my semi detached house, 4 bedrooms �140 a day (10:30am-6:00pm). Some people have said i am paying too much....? Any ideas on this rate? Thanks!!
