What is keeping high mileage 4wd diesel cars away from the US?

CARB is a cop out. 48 states would allow European diesels built now. That's 360 million potential customers. Fuji ? Subaru? What do you have to say for yourself? Audi? VW? Some of the best cars in Europe are made in Belvidere Ill. We just can't buy them. WHY NOT?!!! Ford not only makes and sells diesels. It makes the MOST. (mondeao) We just can't buy them here. WTF is going on? It is NOT regulation. It is NOT customer preference, the internet let us know what is available elsewhere. Since 2005 and hurricane Katrina, you would have a better chance bringing drugs or weapons into the US than a High mileage diesel car. IF this is not a conspiracy, then please share, what is it?
